Cocaine found between pineapples in the port of Rotterdam

Customs discovered a large batch of cocaine in a container in the port of Rotterdam during a check on Wednesday.

Pineapple

During the inspection in a refrigerated container with pineapples, customs officials found 24 jute bales. It contained 607 packages, each containing a kilogram of cocaine. This is reported by the Public Prosecution Service. The street value would be 45 million euros.

Smuggling

The container came from Guatemala and turned out to be destined for a company in Capelle aan de IJssel. This company seems to have nothing to do with smuggling, according to the judiciary.

The drugs have since been destroyed. The so-called HARC team is investigating the matter further. This is a partnership between Customs, FIOD, Seaport Police and the Public Prosecution Service in Rotterdam.

Earlier this year, batches of cocaine were found in the port of Rotterdam between mango puree and bananas.
