Chimène van Oosterhout’s world collapsed when she was diagnosed with breast cancer again in 2020. She bought a wig and stick-on eyelashes and had her eyebrows tattooed. At that time her father died of cancer. In Libelle, Chimène explains what a difficult time that was: “After his death, my mother became ill. I had not yet recovered, but traveled back and forth to Spain for her. Extremely stressful. Shortly after my father, my mother also died and my son left home. At that moment my heart said: I quit. In the hospital it turned out to be Takotsubo cardiomyopathy: The broken heart syndrome. I was so sad.”
