Chain collision in Veenendaal: Investigation into the circumstances

Veenendaal – On Monday evening, February 5, a pile-up occurred at the Voorpoort in Veenendaal involving several vehicles. Before the accident, actions were taking place at the exit on the A12. This caused a lot of traffic on the road. It is unclear whether these actions played a direct role in the accident.

The incident happened in the direction of the roundabout with the Bastion, with vehicles coming from the direction of the A12 Veenendaal. The lead vehicle had to brake unexpectedly, resulting in a back-to-back collision. While a number of vehicles managed to brake in time, a sixth car was unable to stop in time and crashed into its predecessor. This resulted in a pile-up on the road.

Wounded
One of the vehicles involved was a microcar, from which a passenger had to be freed. The passenger, a 17-year-old boy from Barneveld, was taken to hospital for treatment and is now back home. The driver, also a 17-year-old boy from Barneveld, went to the hospital on his own for a check-up. Fortunately, the occupants of the other cars escaped unhurt. The cars were damaged.
