CES 2024: laptops in 2024 are mainly about weight and AI

CES 2024 will be over in a few hours and although it is a shame: we like to see as many new inventions as possible, it was a packed edition. We’ve already talked about the crazy gadgets and the robots, about the micro-solar car and the transparent televisions, plus the Dutch invention of offline file sharing. But there’s more. We list other interesting, important CES 2024 announcements for you.

ERAZER Beast X40

ERAZER has announced the Beast The Major X20 also gets this processor to offer the best gaming experience. However, Beast X40 is the new announcement, a laptop with a GeForce RTX 4090 graphics card and 16 GB of VRAM memory. You are looking at a 17-inch QHD+ screen with a refresh rate of 240 Hz. To give it an extra ‘gaming’ touch, there is an RGB light bar with illuminated ERAZER wings.

ASUS comes with AI PCs

ASUS announced several AI PCs, including the ASUS ExpertBook B5. This laptop is available in 14 inches and 16 inches and has an Intel Core Ultra 7 processor, three AI engines and a focus on the business market. You can also choose a GeForce RTX 2050 graphics card, if you need more power. The housing is completely metal and weighs 1.29 kilograms. For example, there is tech available to give AI tasks faster response times, but also AI tasks that require high performance. In addition, it is the lightest 14-inch business laptop in the world, the brand promises.

It also announced a new Chromebook Plus: the first to also use AI thanks to Intel’s new Ultra Core processor. The device has 16 GB RAM, 512 GB Storage and WiFi 6e, with a 14-inch display. In addition, ASUS also introduced mini PCs, a new Thunderbolt 4 dock and the new Zenbook Duo. The latter has two full 14-inch screens and also uses AI. ASUS describes it as “a new computer with components specifically designed to run powerful AI-accelerated software with high performance and quality. Without these components, AI software will be very slow or may not work at all.” ZenBook Duo will be available from March.

MEDION is also going for AI

AI is the buzzword of today and tech makers have understood that. Medion also comes with an AI laptop, namely E15443 with Intel AI Boost. It is a laptop that is based on the new Intel Core Ultra processor technology and promises to use accessible AI-based tools: with more than 100 different AI applications. The device has a 15.6-inch Full HD screen, 512 GB SSD and an Intel Core Ultra 5 processor. The RAM is 16 GB and the speed is a maximum of 4,800 MHz. The laptop will be available from the end of January for 799 euros.

Republic of Gamers Laptops and Phones

ROG has given the Zephyrus G14 and G16 laptops an upgrade, including an OLED screen. That’s a first for Republic of Gamers. The laptops also have a thinner, lighter casing and have a light strip that makes the laptop extra striking.

It will not surprise you that these laptops also use Intel’s AI chips. Thanks to a combination of cooling using three fans, liquid metal and a Vapor Chamber, the cooling is perfect for people who like to demand a lot from their laptop (i.e. gamers). The G14 is 1.59 cm thin and weighs 1.5 kilos, while the G16 is slightly larger, but thinner: 1.49 cm. The laptops also contain LEDs that can be set in various colors, which corresponds to the phones that have been announced.

The Zephyrus G16 is expected from mid-January and the Zephyrus G14 from early February. A ROG Mini PC and a new monitor have also been announced. The newly announced phones are the ROG Phone 8 and ROG Phone 8 Pro. The most luxurious smartphone also has many LEDs that can be programmed in various colors and templates. The ROG Phone 8 is available from 1099 euros and the ROG Phone 8 Pro is available from 1199 euros.

Panasonic is launching new OLED TVs Z95A and Z93A

Panasonic has announced televisions with Fire TV: the Z95A (65 inches and 55 inches) and the Z93A (77 inches). Panasonic: “The Z95A and Z93A are characterized by superior image and sound quality and this is thanks to a brand new chipset and brighter screen.” The image refresh is 144 Hz. The brand is particularly committed to streaming services and is also equipped with Amazon Alexa, Amazon’s voice assistant that unfortunately does not yet speak Dutch. However, Apple users can breathe easy: Apple AirPlay 2 is supported, as is HomeKit.

HP OMEN Transcend is the new cool, light 14-inch gaming laptop

We see that everything is AI, but also that everything must be as light as possible. HP is launching the new OMEN Transcend 14 Gaming Laptop, which has an IMAX Enhanced certified 2.8K 120Hz OLED display and an RGB keyboard. The laptop weighs 1.6 grams and the battery lasts up to 11.5 hours. The Intel Ultra 9 185H processor and GeForce RTX 4070 graphics card are there for good gaming performance. It has HyperX audio for plenty of good sound and the device is accompanied by the OMEN 16 gaming laptop and new HyperX Cloud Mini headphones and controller.

Acer Predator monitor for gamers

Acer announced four monitors for gamers, two with mini-LED and two with OLED. In addition, it comes with a new Aspire 16 AI PC that uses Intel Core Ultra 7 and is available in 15.6 inches and 14 inches. Count on a maximum of 16 GB RAM and 1 TB SSD storage. In any case, Acer has announced a lot, including new Swift Go laptops with 14 and 16-inch OLED screens that can display content in 2.8K. There is also an RTX 4070 card from GeForce.
