Carice van Houten (46) was taken away by the police on Saturday afternoon during a demonstration of Extinction rebellion. She has now been released again. The actress received quite a few negative reactions to her participation in the climate demonstration on the A12 in The Hague.
A total of 1587 climate activists have been arrested. According to the police, 40 people have been arrested for criminal offenses. They are being prosecuted for this. Carice’s spokesperson does not want to say whether the actress will be prosecuted.
In addition to Carice, singer MEROL, writer Simone van der Vlugt, singer Laskshmi, actor Sieger Sloot, writer Maartje Wortel and cabaret artist Donny Ronny (formerly known as Stefano Keizers) also announced their presence in advance.
On Instagram, Carice lashes out. ‘For all the haters out there: I stood in The Hague today for the most beautiful thing we have. Life. Also that of you and your children,” said the actress. ‘Don’t mention it. I mean that. Greetings from you hypocritical bitch.’
