Bystanders put an end to abuse

Breda – Bystanders put an end to a serious assault on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at around 1:30 am on the Potkanstraat. A 17-year-old boy from Raamsdonksveer hit the head of a 19-year-old man from Bavel several times. It was apparently a sequel to an earlier confrontation. The 17-year-old boy was arrested by officers of the Catering Supervision as a suspect of assault.

The victim filed a report. He said that he had visited a café on the Havermarkt. Outside, he tapped a young man as he passed. He immediately shouted something along the lines of what is it? After this, the guy punched him directly in the face. A doorman separated them. Near Potkanstraat he was hit again several times in the face by the same guy, causing him to fall to the ground. The aggressive man continued to punch until he was grabbed by bystanders. The victim suffered severe pain.

Officers responsible for catering supervision received a report of the commotion from a security guard and from CCTV and arrested the suspect. He was under the influence of alcohol. He blew 435 ugl. The assault was captured on camera footage.

Signalling
During a check at around 4 a.m. on Vismarktstraat, catering staff also arrested a 37-year-old man without a permanent place of residence because of an outstanding alert. The man was wanted because he still has 14 days in prison to serve. He has been transferred to the cell complex.
