Bulgarian trucker arrested with 698 kilos of coke along Belgian highway

The federal highway police arrested a 46-year-old Bulgarian trucker in the Belgian town of Ranst on Friday evening who was transporting 698 kilos of cocaine in his truck. The Antwerp public prosecutor’s office reported this on Sunday.

Highway parking

The federal highway police checked a truck at the highway parking lot in Ranst on Friday evening around 9:15 PM. During the inspection of the cargo, sports bags containing cocaine were found. In total it was a batch of 698 kilos. The drugs have been seized and will be destroyed as quickly as possible, the Antwerp public prosecutor’s office reports.

Arraigned

After his interrogation, the public prosecutor’s office had the Bulgarian driver brought before the investigating judge on Saturday. He decided to place him under arrest. The federal judicial police are conducting further investigations.
