Bruggink sees a star at ‘bad’ Feyenoord-AZ: ‘He transcends the level’

Arnold Bruggink sees that Feyenoord and AZ cannot yet break pots in the Eredivisie topper in De Kuip. The Rotterdam midfielders in particular are having a hard time, while one player rises above the level on behalf of AZ.

“It falters at Feyenoord with Mats Wieffer and Quinten Timber”, Bruggink analyzes at halftime at ESPN. “They really had moments to go forward a few times. Without Orkun Kökcü, one of those two is obliged to play the balls, but they play fairly quickly in width. Gimenez also suffers from that.”

Javairo Dilrosun is also having a hard time as number ten, Bruggink sees. “Dilrosun stands for that a bit, he also gets few balls and doesn’t know how to move very well. Dilrosun has a lot of trouble. He finds it super difficult without the ball, where he needs to be in the small spaces. Sometimes you also have to walk for others, to create spaces. That bothers him a lot. He finds that difficult.”

Bruggink sees only one player who really stands out in a positive sense in De Kuip. “At the moment I see one player who really reaches a good level and transcends it. That’s Jordy Clasie. That’s about the only one who has it under control. It’s just a bad game. Technically I like it very much very against.”
