Brit gets 12 years in prison for cocaine trafficking from Rotterdam drug cafe

A Briton who was on the run for eight years for his role in large-scale international drug trafficking has been sentenced to 12 years in prison in England. Michael Paul Moogan (37) from Liverpool fled in October 2013 after a raid on the then Rotterdam café Café de Ketel in which co-suspects were arrested.

The Ketel was only accessible to acquaintances through a security system. According to the judge, Moogan brought hundreds of kilos of cocaine into the United Kingdom every month. Co-defendant Robert Hamilton was sentenced to eight years in prison in 2014 after pleading guilty to drug charges. Robert Gerard turned himself in to the police after being on the run for three years. He received 14 years in prison.

Moogan was in hiding until April 2021 when he was arrested by Dubai Police.
