Prescribing medicines online without the prescribing doctor having ever met the patient. Minister Ernst Kuipers will allow that from now on. Good news for patients, say proponents, but critics warn against online prescription policies with the motto: you ask, we run.

The Medicines Act is inexorable. A physician or nurse practitioner with prescribing authority may not prescribe medication if he or she has never met the patient in person, does not know him or does not have the medication history available.
