Bergen op Zoom – At a cafe in the center of Bergen op Zoom, an 18-year-old boy from Halsteren was arrested by the police on the night of March 17 to 18. The boy is suspected of possessing hard drugs.

The police were called by security guards who in turn were warned by two visitors to the cafe. They had been offered ‘a peppermint’ by a boy who was also present in the cafe. The ‘peppermints’ turned out to be Ecstasy pills. The security guards approached the boy, the box of ‘peppermints’ was taken away and the police were called.

When officers arrived at the scene around 3:20 a.m., they arrested the boy. He was taken to a police cell complex. There he spent the rest of the night. The suspect will be heard on Saturday during the day.

The box containing a total of 55 pills was seized by the police. The ‘peppermints’ were tested at the police station and indeed turned out to be XTC pills. A witness statement was recorded from the two visitors who were offered the pills.
