In Antwerp, the police raided the office and home of a criminal lawyer. The man was arrested and interrogated and released as a suspect under certain conditions by the investigating judge. Belgian media report this. The man’s name would turn up in a drug trafficking investigation. The suspects in that file used communications with Sky ECC telephones made legible by the police.
It would be a lawyer who specializes in drug cases, in particular he assists suspects who were involved in the import of cocaine via the port of Antwerp.
The lawyer himself would have used some Sky ECC phones. In 2021, the police succeeded in cracking the encrypted messaging service.
Two years ago, two lawyers were arrested in Belgium as a result of information from the Sky ECC hack. Jawad H. was sentenced by the court to eighteen months in prison last Friday. The other lawyer was Sahil M. His case has not (yet) been taken to court.
