Aston Martin faces a difficult fight:

Mike Krack, team principal of Aston Martin, is not sure whether the British team has what it takes to catch up with Red Bull Racing this season. The Austrian racing stable has started the year with a considerable lead, as a result of which some racing stables have already thrown in the towel. Aston Martin is also competitive and even seems to have overtaken teams such as Ferrari and Mercedes. According to Krack, however, that remains to be seen on the circuits that will arrive in the coming weeks.

For the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, the Aston Martin team did not want to make any predictions. The team remains cautious for the upcoming races, despite the positive results. “We raced on two completely different circuits and we were competitive on both, but there are other tracks coming up,” Krack is quoted by SoyMotor. “We don’t want to underestimate this. It is also possible that one of our rivals gets into a problem and then the order changes. We’ll have to wait and see.’

Currently, Aston Martin seems to be able to look at the Red Bull team as a real rival. “The reference is always the fastest car.” Still, Krack doesn’t want to pay too much attention to the competition. “When it comes to identifying weak spots and areas for improvement, you look at your own car over the weekend. There is no reason to take it for granted and believe that you have an edge over others. You have to look at your own car and judge where it is weak and go from there.”

Krack: ‘Be careful with making predictions’

The gap to Red Bull was still large in recent races, despite Fernando Alonso standing on the podium in both races. The question is whether the development path will be sufficient. “It is a good question whether the Red Bulls can be caught up. Now that the development race has started, we are fighting with people who have different capabilities than us. Moreover, Red Bull is also used to achieving success. We have to be careful about making too many predictions in that area,” said Krack.
