Arrests for violent theft by appointment via dating app

Almere – Three underage boys were arrested on Monday evening, June 24, after they assaulted and robbed a man during a meeting arranged via a dating app. The police are investigating and would like to get in touch with people who may have also fallen victim to these types of fake dating app arrangements.

That Monday evening, the victim had arranged a meeting via a dating app. He thought he had an appointment with a man in a forest near Tanitstraat in Almere. But when he got there, the victim was assaulted, humiliated and robbed of his personal belongings by three boys. The man then called the police, who immediately started an investigation.

A 15-year-old boy from Purmerend and two boys aged 15 and 14 from Almere were arrested shortly after the incident. The boys are in custody and will soon have to appear before the examining magistrate.
