De Lier – Nine arrests were made around the arrival of Sinterklaas in De Lier. The police also seized a group of people who wanted to disrupt a demonstration surrounding the arrival
On the morning of Saturday, November 18, four people were arrested in De Lier who are suspected of having destroyed several police cameras in the Hoofdstraat. Three people were also arrested who, after a vehicle was searched, turned out to be in possession of various weapons. One person was arrested for lighting illegal fireworks, another for public violence.
Demonstration surrounding the arrival; police demand disruptors to leave
Later in the day, a group of demonstrators at the demonstration location designated by the municipality of Westland were pelted with eggs and fireworks. The police decided to form a line between the demonstrators and disruptors, with the latter group being ordered to leave. After some time, peace returned. No one was injured and no arrests were made around the demonstration.
