Amersfoort – In the night from Saturday 22 to Sunday 23 April, things went wrong at the Hof in Amersfoort around 05:00. Several police officers were rudely insulted by two men while supervising the nightlife crowd. The officers wanted to arrest the men for this, but the two immediately went completely crazy and handed out violent blows to the officers. With the help of doormen from nearby catering establishments and the use of the electric shock weapon, the 28-year-old man and a 26-year-old man from Amersfoort were eventually arrested.

Gross physical and verbal abuse

The two Amersfoorters displayed provocative and annoying behavior for a while. After the police asked them to leave the area several times, this resulted in very rude insults to the officers. The officers wanted to arrest the men for this, but they strongly resisted this. They dealt several blows in the face and on the head of the officers. One officer even briefly lost consciousness.

One suspect was overpowered fairly quickly, partly with the help of doormen. The other man kept going completely berserk and kicking around wildly. To get the situation under control, officers were forced to use the stun gun. The two men from Amersfoort were taken to the police station. After questioning, they were released with a summons. Soon they will have to answer to the judge for this physical and verbal violence.
