Arrested for public assault after traffic altercation

Vlissingen, Tilburg – Around 5.40 pm on Monday, March 27, witnesses saw two men in a passenger car assaulting another motorist on the Nieuwe Vlissingseweg in Vlissingen.

Apparently there had been a traffic conflict. The driver made a hand movement to the occupants of the other passenger car that they should take it easy. The occupants got out and punched the victim who was still in his car. Then they drove off fast. The victim was left with broken glasses and broken dentures.

Witnesses captured footage of the incident with their phones. When officers arrived on the scene, they gave the footage to the officers. This allowed them to see the descriptions of the suspects, but also the license plate of the car. That license plate was passed on to all police units that were on duty. The victim filed a report.

The car, including the suspects, was found on the Joke Smitweg in Tilburg around midnight. The two men were arrested as suspects of public violence and transferred to a police cell complex. They may make a statement on Tuesday. A sum of money was seized when they were arrested. That money may be used to compensate the victim for damages. A small amount of soft drugs was also seized. The car the men were driving was not insured.

The two suspects are men aged 25 and 28. The 28-year-old man has an unknown place of residence. The 25-year-old comes from the municipality of Borssele.
