Maastricht – In the summer of 2022, a home robbery took place on the Ponjaardruwe. Last spring, the research team asked citizens for help several times in the initiated investigation. Based on all tips, information and a long and intensive investigation, a suspect was arrested on Tuesday, November 7.
On the night of Thursday 7 to Friday 8 July, the then 84-year-old resident of the house on Ponjaardruwe in Maastricht was sleeping unsuspectingly. At 3:15 am he woke up with a start because two people were in his bedroom. They restrained him while they took his safe. The elderly victim was left very shocked.
In the subsequent investigation, a SpeurMee video was released via online police channels in mid-April. A week later, attention was paid to the case in the television program Opsporing Verzocht. The viewing audience was asked to share tips and information about a vehicle that was shown. That yielded eight tips.
After intensive investigation, a 38-year-old man from Landgraaf was arrested on Tuesday, November 7. He is suspected of complicity in the robbery. With the arrest of this person, the investigation continues unabated. Multiple arrests cannot be ruled out.
