Boekel – The police have arrested a 30-year-old man for his possible role in a stable fire in Boekel. Many thousands of animals did not survive the fire. The police are continuing to investigate the cause of the fire and are looking for witnesses.

The fire was discovered Sunday night around 10:30 p.m. The emergency services immediately scaled up significantly and managed to prevent the fire from spreading to other buildings on the site. Due to the heavy smoke development, a NL alert was also sent around midnight asking local residents to close their windows.

Later that night, the fire brigade gave the signal to fire. Today, the police are conducting further investigations into the fire together with the fire brigade at the location. A 30-year-old man from Venhorst was arrested. We suspect that he may have played a role in the start of the fire.
