Arrest after cowardly robberies

Heemskerk – Beverwijk – The police received a report of theft on both Tuesday March 5 and Sunday March 10. In both cases it concerns an elderly woman who has been robbed. By combining the evidence in both cases, IJmond police arrested a 33-year-old woman as a suspect in both cases this week.

On Tuesday, March 5, around 3 p.m., a 90-year-old partially sighted woman had just withdrawn money at the Wijkerbaan in Beverwijk when she was approached by another woman. This woman asks for money and when the victim refuses, the suspect grabs the money she had just withdrawn and the bank card from her hand.

On Sunday, March 10, just after 11 a.m., a 76-year-old woman who uses a walker on Beneluxlaan in Heemskerk was robbed of her wallet as she walked home after shopping. A passing man comes to her aid, allowing the suspect to be arrested.

After arrest, the footage available from the robbery on March 5 turned out to lead to the same suspect. She has received a summons and will soon be allowed to report to court.
