Apple unveils the iPhone 15 and 15 Pro with these (new) features

During Wonderlust, Apple finally unveiled the iPhone 15 and 15 Pro. The new devices will be available in stores from September 22. Below you can read what you can expect from the phones.

During Apple Wanderlust, Apple showed the new Apple Watch and the iPhone 15 models for the first time. What is immediately noticeable about the latter is that the 15 and 15 Plus now also have the Dynamic Island. A feature we previously saw on the 14 Pro.

This is the new iPhone 15

The iPhone 15 also has an OLED Super Retina XDR screen. This has a brightness of 2000 nits. Moreover, the screen is also stronger, thanks to the ceramic shield. You choose from the 6.1 inch normal iPhone 15 or 6.7 inches for the 15 Plus. The phone is available in pink, yellow, green, blue and black.

The new camera system has a 48 MP main camera. In addition, there is also a 12 MP telephoto lens on the back. Even in the dark you should be able to take great photos with this. According to Apple, the colors are even richer.

Apple has also been working on portrait mode. You no longer have to slide, the phone automatically knows when you take a portrait. Even with dogs and cats. You also have focus and depth control. Even after the photo has been taken, you can switch where the depth should be. Colors should also stand out even better in the updated night mode.

The ‘old’ A16 chip in the new phone

The iPhone 15 will have the A16 chip that you already know from the 14 Pro. The battery should last a whole day. The 15 Plus has an even larger battery, which means it lasts longer.

The iPhone 15 has the second generation ultra-wideband chip. This makes it even easier to communicate with other devices. Even from 3 times further away than the previous model can do. Because the device recognizes your voice even better, telephone conversations also improve. It is also possible to make calls with voice insulation.

USB-C

And there it finally is: the USB-C port. In addition, the case of the AirPods Pro 2 also has a USB connection. This means that you can use the new charger for the iPhone, iPad, AirPods Pro 2 and Mac.

The iPhone 15 costs 969 euros here and the 15 Plus starts at 1119 euros. It will be available in stores from September 22 and can already be pre-ordered.

Meet the iPhone 15 Pro

Instead of stainless steel, the new iPhone 15 Pro is now made of titanium, which you know from the Ultra. Apple chooses titanium for the iPhone 15 Pro because it is strong, durable and light.

In addition, this 15 Pro also has the action button that has been the subject of long speculation. This replaces the slider on the side. You can still use it to silence your phone. However, you now also have access to multiple functions for which you use the button. Consider recording a voice memo.

The Dynamic Island now also provides visual feedback. Of course, well-known functions such as Pro Motion and the always on screen are also present.

The new A17 chip

Under the hood of the iPhone 15 Pro you will find the A17 chip. This has 19 billion transistors. It is the first 3nm chip in a phone. The CPU has 6 performance cores that are 10 percent faster than its predecessor. The neural engine is even twice as fast. The new GPU has 6 cores and is 20 percent faster than the predecessor.

The USB-C port has a speed of 10 GB per second. That provides 20 times more transfer than USBC 2.

The Pro has a size of 6.1 inches and the Pro Max has a size of 6.7 inches. It has thinner screen bezels than its predecessor. Apple also says that the device has the strongest screen on the entire market.

The screen also supports ray tracing, which is four times better than the A16 chip. Apple wants to make the iPhone 15 Pro even more suitable for gaming. Apple even brings Resident Evil games and the new Assassin’s Creed to the device.

The camera of the iPhone 15 Pro

The iPhone 15 Pro has an improved 48 MP main camera, with a larger sensor. This should perform even better in situations with little light. You now shoot photos in 24 mm, 28 mm and 35 mm focus. You choose your own standard.

The new camera in the Pro Max has a 5x zoom telephoto camera. This shoots with a focus of 120 mm. These types of cameras normally require huge lenses, but the special tetrapism design makes this possible in the phone. In addition, the 12 MP ultra-wide-angle lens is also present. This has also been further improved.

You can film like a real professional on the iPhone 15 Pro. It can film in 4K60 Pro Res. This should allow for immersive slow motions.

It is now even possible to film in 3D with the iPhone 15 Pro if you turn the phone a quarter turn. This is of course intended for the Apple Vision Pro, so you can relive moments in 3D.

The iPhone 15 Pro has a starting price of 1229 euros. The 15 Pro Max will cost at least 1479 euros. You can pre-order it from Friday, after which it will be delivered on September 22.
