On the A59 near Den Bosch, a car flew out of the bend on Sunday evening and ended up in the water. The accident happened in a bend on the A59 at the Empel junction. That is the same place where Sanne and Hebe crashed last October.

A man, woman and a dog who were in the car were removed by firefighters. They were checked by paramedics, but did not have to be taken to hospital. The car is removed from the water by a salvage company, Omroep Brabant writes.

Last week, the mayor and aldermen of Den Bosch called for a crash barrier to be placed on this route. At the end of March, a car had also gone off the road in the same bend and ended up in the water. The driver managed to get himself to safety.

Not enough money

10-year-old Hebe Zwart and her 26-year-old supervisor Sanne Bos were killed in the autumn of 2022 when their car went out of control on the connecting road between the A59 and the A2. The car they were in was found upside down in the water near the bend after two days.

According to Minister Harbers of Infrastructure and Water Management, adjustments were not necessary because an annual analysis had not shown that it was a very dangerous place and “there is not enough money to tackle all problem areas”. He did mention a crash barrier as an option if roadworks were to take place in the future.
