Alonso left Alpine for a reason:

Fernando Alonso thinks he is the best version of himself right now and the world wouldn’t see him in that form if he had stayed with Alpine. The two-time world champion left the French racing team at the end of last season for an adventure at Aston Martin and it is still going according to plan.

Alonso retired from Formula 1 in 2018 to pursue other dreams in motorsport, but returned to Alpine in 2021. In his time away from the sport, the Spaniard worked on himself. “I’ve been preparing all this time for my comeback in 2021,” the 41-year-old tells SoyMotor. “I was waiting for the new regulations to have a better chance of winning. They didn’t come in 2022 yet, but that was also a preparatory year.’

Midway through 2022, Alonso signed a contract with Aston Martin. “From that point I started thinking about the team, to prepare myself, to talk to those people, to prepare the car. It was a personal matter. If I stayed with Alpine, the best version of myself in twenty years of Formula 1 would not be seen,” the veteran was convinced at the time.

Formula 1 lives again in Spain by Alonso

Alonso has now also managed to take two podiums in two races at Aston Martin. The two-time world champion sees F1 alive again in Spain, where he has not been for some time. “I haven’t been to Spain since January, so I’m looking forward to going there again. Based on what my family and Pedro de la Rosa tell me, Spain is also very excited.”
