Ajax has met its own supporters after the abandoned away match against FC Groningen. All costs incurred will be taken over by the Amsterdam club.
More than an hour after the match, which lasted no longer than ten minutes, Ajax came up with the statement. “Ajax takes over the burden of the away supporters who visited the game today,” the statement reads. Dusan Tadic thanks the fans who traveled along. “We know it’s been a long journey.”

FC Groningen – Ajax was permanently discontinued after the competition match in De Euroborg was halted twice due to misconduct by supporters. In the sixth minute, smoke bombs were thrown and a fan entered the pitch. Shortly after the restart, fireworks were thrown again and referee Jeroen Manschot whistled for the end.
The misconduct was no surprise. Supporter circles in Groningen have already talked about forcing a strike. It is not yet known when the remaining eighty minutes will resume. The score was 0-0.
