Ajax would like to continue with Remko Pasveer for longer, De Telegraaf reports. The 39-year-old goalkeeper has an offer from the Amsterdam club to sign for one more season.

Although Pasveer will turn forty in November and Ajax brought in Gerónimo Rulli last winter, the current number two in the Eredivisie would like to keep him in the group in the new season. As second fiddle, the closing post could add an extra chapter to his career. Pasveer came over transfer-free from Vitesse in 2021.

Initially he was taken as third choice, behind André Onana and Maarten Stekelenburg. Due to the doping suspension of the Cameroonian and a lingering injury to the former Orange international, Pasveer, who has been under the bar at Ajax in 49 official matches so far, became first keeper. The born Tukker started his career at FC Twente and then served Heracles Almelo, Go Ahead Eagles, PSV and Vitesse.

It is unclear whether Pasveer is sympathetic to a contract extension. The contract of the two-time Oranje-international in Amsterdam will expire next summer.
