Aggression leads to abuse of care workers

Roosendaal – The police arrested a 23-year-old suspect from Willemstad on Saturday evening, March 11, around 1:00 am in Badhuisstraat, who assaulted an ambulance brother and a police officer.

The suspect was believed to be under the influence. The moment ambulance staff wanted to treat him, he kicked the paramedic. Officers intervened and kept him under control. Still, he managed to spit in an officer’s face. In both cases it is about abuse. The suspect was arrested, but first went to the hospital for medical care.

Public duty
The government does not tolerate verbal or physical violence against investigating officers, police officers, aid workers and government employees and takes decisive action against it. Anyone who commits aggression or violence against an employee with a public task must be punished quickly and severely. It has been agreed with the Public Prosecution Service that the penalty requirement for violence against employees with a public task will be increased.
