Fire

The explosion happened around two o’clock last night at the John Lockehof in Amsterdam Nieuw-West, at the entrance to an apartment complex. As a result, a fierce fire broke out. The fire brigade quickly extinguished the fire. A number of residents were removed from the apartment.

The so-called explosives safety team leader arrived on the scene. The police are continuing to investigate the fire and explosion.

After the explosion, officers found a completely burnt-out motor scooter and children’s bicycle. And a fire also appeared to have broken out at the rear of a passenger car. The facade of the three-storey apartment building suffered soot damage. Although several residents were home at the time of the explosion, no one was injured. “Unfortunately, an extensive search of the area has not yet resulted in any arrests,” the police said.

Same address

An explosion also took place at the same address in March last year, severely damaging a door and a number of windows. This was the same entrance to the low-rise apartment building. Last year, after the explosion, residents mentioned the high crime rate in the neighborhood and the fact that there is a lot of subletting, which means that people never really know who lives in the complex.
