There will be a ban on the usage of drones by civilians in Rotterdam during the NATO Summit next month. Unmanned surface vehicles will also not be allowed to enter the city, according to an emergency ordinance that was published on Wednesday. The measures will last from 6 a.m. on June 25 to 5 p.m.
The summit will be held in The Hague, but several delegations will be staying in Rotterdam. According to the municipality, the measures are necessary “to maintain public order and safety and to limit danger.”
The drone ban will apply to anywhere within the city of Rotterdam, from Pernis to Prins Alexander and from Overschie to IJsselmonde.
No motorboats will be allowed within 500 meters of the beach at Hook van Holland, which is a part of Rotterdam. These measures, which will also apply to other coastal municipalities, will begin on June 19 and will last until June 25. Surfers, kayakers, and standup paddleboarders will be allowed on the water.
