Janssen important in ninth win in a row by Royal Antwerp

Royal Antwerp FC has also won the ninth match in the Jupiler Pro League. Mark van Bommel’s team played at home against Seraing United and won a 2-1 victory, partly thanks to Vincent Janssen.

The Dutch-tinted team already achieved 24 points in the first eight games and is already seen as the main candidate to win the Belgian national title. The home team also started well against Seraing and took the lead after seven minutes. Former Ajax player Toby Alderweireld was outlawed and was able to head the 1-0 against the ropes.

Antwerp had by far the most ball possession and fifteen minutes later took a 2-0 lead at the hands of Janssen. The Dutch striker touched a shot with the heel and as a result the ball fell in. Seraing was the lesser, but he did manage the opportunities effectively: just before half-time, the connecting goal was made by Antoine Bernier.

In the second half it remained exciting for a long time and Seraing got better and better in the game, but no more goals were scored. With the win, Royal Antwerp records its ninth win in a row in Belgium and the team is sovereign in the lead. The lead on number two KRC Genk is eight points, although the latter still has to finish this round.
