59 reports at international security checkpoint

Maastricht – A total of 142 vehicles were checked at the major international security checkpoint on Radiumplein on Thursday between 3:00 PM and 9:30 PM. A total of one arrest was made under the ID law and 59 citations were issued. Nineteen people received an official warning.

Of the 59 citations, eight were for holding the phone while driving and seven for driving under the influence, three of which involved taxi drivers. The others included driving with defective lights (4x) and not being able to show a driver’s license (5x). During the inspection, two wrong-way vehicles, four times a user quantity of soft drugs and a bulletproof vest and balaclava were seized.

The tax authorities have collected 33,969 euros in outstanding taxes. A vehicle was also seized twice and two vehicles were impounded.

The Public Prosecution Service’s collection team has taken a vehicle into custody. In addition, she has issued five fines in the context of summary justice. Four catchers have been administratively recorded, two of which have been reported to the tax authorities because they did not meet the payment conditions. Read more about the audit here.
