4th Suspect arrested after Geert Grootelaan shooting incident in Vlaardingen

Vlaardingen/France – A fourth suspect has been arrested in the investigation into a shooting incident on Sunday, January 7, around 2 a.m. in a house on Geert Grootelaan in Vlaardingen. The 29-year-old victim remains in hospital in critical condition.

After intensive investigation, detectives were able to determine the identity of a suspect. There were strong suspicions that the suspect might be in France. Close cooperation with the French police led to the arrest of a 17-year-old suspect in France on Thursday, January 11. The Netherlands will request his extradition from the French authorities so that the criminal investigation and prosecution can continue in the Netherlands.

On Sunday, January 7, officers already arrested three suspects. They are suspected of possessing narcotics. Investigation revealed that the house opposite the victim’s home appeared to be involved in the shooting. During a search, a significant amount of narcotics was found there. The examining magistrate has determined that the three previously arrested suspects will remain in custody for an additional 14 days.

The investigation continues and more arrests cannot be ruled out.
