A 25-year-old man from Sliedrecht was the first arrested around 1 a.m. He had 6 kilos of cocaine with him. Because customs suspected that he was not alone, various containers in the area were searched. A few hours later, two men aged 17 and 23 from Rotterdam were found in an empty container. Another 34 kilos of cocaine were subsequently found in another container.
The three were brought before the examining magistrate today. It has decided that the two oldest suspects will remain in custody for two weeks longer. The minor has been released on conditions. He remains a suspect.
The HARC team, a partnership between seaport police, customs, FIOD and the Public Prosecution Service, is further investigating the case. The drugs have now been destroyed.
