Reeuwijk/Gouda – After a short chase, the police arrested a 29-year-old man from Gouda on Tuesday morning, November 14. The suspect had committed several traffic violations in the Reeuwijk area and ignored a stop sign and ran off. He was eventually arrested in Merlijnstraat in Gouda.
Police officers patrolling in Reeuwijk saw the motorist driving around 1:20 am. The driver stood out because of his driving behavior and the traffic violations he committed. The officers then decided to check him and stopped him. The motorist ignored this stop sign and took off. A chase followed that ended on Merlijnstraat in Goude when the suspect veered out of the bend and came to a stop against two parked vehicles. The suspect then ran away. Presumably due to sand on the road, the police vehicle grazed the suspect’s car. No one was injured. The suspect was arrested in the area and the vehicle was seized. The 29-year-old man from Gouda is currently still in custody and will be arraigned today.
